Food and Drink at Wedderburn Castle
Good food is central to any occasion, and this is reflected by the standard of catering offered at Wedderburn. Our head chef, Mr Justin Cook, will personally consult with you on your exact requirements, and we will endeavour to incorporate any special requests you may have. The Scottish Borders offer a huge natural variety of fresh produce, notably salmon from the river Tweed and seafood from the fishing port of Eyemouth, together with excellent Scotch beef and venison. Fresh local produce is used wherever possible.
Example catering service for two night stay:
Wedderburn is let with full catering for all resident guests. The following is an example of the service that might be requested. Any variation to this service is easily arranged to meet your exact requirements. Our full sample menu is shown below.
Corkage is not charged on drink that you have delivered or bring with you to Wedderburn. You are therefore free from the limitations of a wine list. These can be significant considerations. Our waiting staff will provide a bar service if required (generally the case for a reception).
Day 1:
Dinner: Guests arrive during the afternoon and the evening (from 4pm). Informal dinner is served in the kitchen (seats 24). If guests are expected to arrive throughout the evening, it can be arranged for dinner service to be provided over a longer period.
Day 2:
The Kitchen
Breakfast: Scottish and Continental breakfast is served in the Kitchen over a period of up to two hours between 7.30 and 10.30am. This avoids any rush to show up at a particular time. The kitchen is huge, with a very informal atmosphere which guests always love, perhaps because of the enormous iron range which, though no longer in use, certainly sets the scene.
Lunch: A light (or a heavy) lunch is easily arranged, as required.
Dinner: Four-course full-service dinner, served in the dining room. Generally required to be the biggest formal dinner, and this can also form a part of a much larger reception (served in the Ballroom if more than 50 guests) attended by non-resident guests.
Day 3:
Full Scottish and Continental breakfast as before. Departure time is normally by midday. If a planning a weekend stay and Sunday lunch is to be taken, your departure time can be moved forward to 4pm.
